Nigerian singer Mercy Isoyip, also known as Descushiel, has issued an apology to Nigerians and the Nigeria Police Force following her incorrect recitation of the national anthem during the Conference for Senior Police Officers in Imo State.
Isoyip, who wore a police uniform during the conference, garnered attention on Monday when she recited the national anthem with errors, which drew criticism from social media users who assumed she was a policewoman due to her attire.
However, in a video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Descushiel expressed regret for her mistakes.
Her video was captioned, I sincerely apologize for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem; I acknowledge that such errors are inexcusable.
My fellow countrymen, please accept my apology, along with my commitment to being more diligent in preventing such incidents from happening in the future.
