The Abia State Government has reported that 70 deceased individuals were found in the forest near the Lokpanta Cattle Market in the Umunneochi Local Government Area. Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, revealed this during his monthly media chat in Umuahia.
The government has not disclosed the specific details of the deceased, and the northern community leaders at the market expressed concerns about their intentions.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Kazie Uko, stated that the information about the recovered bodies is in the hands of security agencies, and their fate will be determined after investigations.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, is yet to provide further details on the matter.
