Lance Corporal Philomena Nnamoko stationed at Ilese Sappers Barracks in Ogun State alleges bullying and harassment by senior colleagues, as reported in her interview with Sunday PUNCH on January 28, 2024.
Nnamoko claims to have faced physical assault and subsequent transfer to Yaba Psychiatric Hospital.
Her son, Emmanuel Brown, confirms the assault, finding his mother unconscious at the barracks’ Medical Reception Station.
Brown recounts her distressing experience and expresses concern over her well-being, rejecting claims of mental illness. Philomena’s lawyer, Kayode Oshiyemi, supports the account, asserting she was assaulted and falsely labeled with a mental disorder to conceal the attack.
Philomena’s twin brother, Philip Edwin, corroborates her mental stability, emphasizing recent normal interactions. Efforts to reach the army’s spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, for comment have been unsuccessful as of this report’s filing.
