The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has declared the governorship primary in Edo state held last weekend as inconclusive.
Announced by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, the party’s national leadership made this decision on Tuesday night following an emergency meeting.
The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024, for the completion of the APC primary election process, Morka stated.
Nigerian Tribune investigations revealed that Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman, called for the emergency meeting following discussions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
Accompanied by his National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje convened the meeting.
Among the contenders vying for the party’s ticket are three aspirants: Honourable Dennis Idahosa, declared winner by the Chairman of the seven-man primary panel, Senator Hope Uzodinnma; Anamero Dekeri, a serving member of the House of Representatives, pronounced winner by Local Government returning officers led by Babatunde Ojo; and serving Senator Monday Okpebholo, who declared himself the winner with Stanley Ugboaja as the Returning Officer of the exercise.
