Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has suspended Halima Shehu, the Executive Director of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA), from the campaign council.

The suspension, effective immediately, was communicated in a letter to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, citing alleged misconduct not aligned with the party’s values.

President Tinubu’s decision follows Halima Shehu’s confirmation as NSIPA head just three months ago, raising questions about the reasons behind the swift suspension.

She had previously served at the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, contributing significantly to the implementation of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) and its various components.

Halima Shehu, a seasoned banking and finance professional with over a decade of experience, played a pivotal role in digitizing the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme during her tenure.

Her leadership at NSIPA focused on improving organizational structure, financial management, and partnerships with state and local governments, aligning activities with the government’s agenda for social investment and poverty reduction.

In addition to her contributions to NSIPA, Halima Shehu is recognized for her advocacy for women’s empowerment and youth development, receiving accolades such as the Distinguished Humanitarian Service Award.

Her commitment to transparency and accountability in NSIP activities reflects a dedication to global best practices.
