On Tuesday, the So_Safe Corps of Ogun State apprehended 12 suspected armed robbers in border communities.
These criminals were involved in robbing passengers and drivers at various locations including Ajegunle bus stop, Toll gate, Shoprite area, and Dalemo bus stop, all situated in the Ado_Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
The Corps received multiple reports indicating that a group of cultists had transitioned into armed robbery, targeting phones and valuable items. Additionally, they were accused of coercing victims to transfer money to designated POS machines for cash withdrawals.
Armed with dangerous weapons such as broken bottles, cutlasses, and knives, the robbers intercepted motorcycles and assaulted passengers. Their brazen activities unfolded even in broad daylight, displaying alarming levels of audacity.
During the arrests, packs of Indian hemp and charms were seized from the suspects. These individuals, along with the confiscated items, were subsequently handed over to the Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation.
Expressing concern, the So_Safe boss emphasized the need for swift action against such criminal activities.
He affirmed that the 12 apprehended armed robbers would face legal proceedings for their involvement in theft and other unlawful acts, reflecting a grave disregard for societal norms and laws.
