Former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku, has urged security agencies to adopt a proactive stance rather than a reactive one, responding to the recent wave of killings in Plateau state.
Atiku expressed deep sadness over the violence in the Mangu local government area despite the imposed 24-hour curfew by Governor Caleb Muftwang.
He emphasized that such acts of violence, involving the loss of innocent lives, burning of homes, and communities thrown into chaos, directly challenge the cherished Nigerian values of peace and unity.
Atiku called for heightened proactiveness from security agencies, especially in the face of recurrent banditry in Plateau and other parts of the country.
The former Presidential candidate highlighted the grave concern over the apparent lack of anticipation and preventive measures against such crises.
Atiku emphasized the need for Nigerian security forces to step up, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
While advocating for peace, he stood in solidarity with the victims and their families, urging Nigerians to unite in preventing the recurrence of such tragedies.
