On Saturday night, the Benue State Police Command intervened to rescue a pastor and one of his church members who were brutally attacked by local youths on suspicions of organ harvesting in Kanshio New Layout, Makurdi.
A video circulating on social media showed the member, Jude Tyokula, being stripped and beaten, during which he confessed to engaging in organ harvesting.
He claimed his pastor, known since 2008, had offered him one million naira for the act.
However, the police have refuted the allegations, stating that the confession was coerced due to the fear of further violence.
The police also clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
