In the Lagos State Police Command, Bojuwoye Adetola and Bunmi Dada, employees of Bet Naija, stand accused of conspiring to steal N16.7 million from a customer who placed a bet at their outlet.
The alleged theft occurred between September 12 and 24, 2023.
They face charges of theft and conspiracy to commit theft, under Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Both defendants pleaded not guilty and were granted bail.
Lukman Issa, a Lagos businessman, claims he won N16.7 million from Bet Naija but was not paid by the attendant, Bojuwoye Adetola, and her accomplice, Bunmi Dada.
Issa alleges they embezzled the winnings bit by bit, and despite reporting to the Bet Naija head office, he received no assistance.
The defendants maintain their innocence. The magistrate granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two responsible sureties.
