Ebonyi’s Umubu-Ekka community is in mourning over the perilous bridge of death spanning Akadoro River.
Recent fatalities, totaling five lives lost, have prompted local leaders to urge the state government for a critical replacement of the dilapidated wooden structure with a safer concrete bridge.
The Umubi-Ekka Development Union President, Mr. Mathew Nwokeh, emphasized the bridge’s threat to lives and regional accessibility, urging government intervention to prevent future tragedies.
Despite promises from past politicians, including Senator Obinna Ogba, and incomplete efforts by the former council chairman, the community remains disconnected, hindering economic activities and posing risks during the rainy season.
The community appeals to government representatives for swift action.
