German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is set to make an official visit to Nigeria on October 29 and 30, 2023, as announced by the German Embassy in Nigeria.

This visit is geared towards enhancing the strong bilateral ties between Germany and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

With diplomatic relations spanning over 60 years, both nations, each boasting the strongest economy and the most populous country on their respective continents, are seen as natural partners.

The visit aims to underscore Germany’s deep appreciation for this enduring partnership and to highlight the significance that the German government places on Nigeria’s role in the region and globally.

During his stay in Nigeria, Chancellor Olaf Scholz will hold meetings with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ECOWAS Commission President, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray in Abuja.

He will also journey to Lagos, where he will inaugurate a Nigeria-German Business Conference organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.

While in Lagos, Chancellor Scholz will engage with Nigerian civil society representatives and startup entrepreneurs.

Accompanied by a high-ranking delegation of German business leaders, including CEOs of prominent German companies, as well as a cultural delegation, the visit aims to intensify economic and cultural relations and explore investment opportunities in Nigeria.

The German Embassy in Nigeria eagerly anticipates Chancellor Scholz’s visit, with a commitment to strengthening the already vital and warm bilateral relations between the two nations.
