On May 27th, the Executive Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. David Oladapo Famuyiwa, assured students of enhanced investment in the education sector to help them reach their full potential.
This commitment was made during the 2024 International Children’s Day celebration held at the council secretariat for children in the LCDA.
On this special day, I want to reaffirm our administration’s dedication to ensuring every child in this LCDA has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
We will continue to invest heavily in education, healthcare, and other vital social infrastructure to help our children thrive and succeed, Famuyiwa stated.
He emphasized the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and shaping the community’s future, adding, We will prioritize the protection and welfare of our children, ensuring safe and child-friendly environments in both schools and our communities.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements in education over the past year, Famuyiwa noted, We have implemented various programs to enhance educational and recreational facilities for our children.
This includes renovating primary schools, constructing perimeter fences, providing water facilities and toilets, and supplying learning materials such as desks, chairs, bags, and books.
We have also distributed free GCE and JAMB forms to deserving students and organized numerous activities like today’s celebration to ensure a well-rounded education.
This year’s Children’s Day, themed A Better Future for Our Teens as Leaders of Tomorrow, was vibrant with activities at the LCDA. Children from all corners of the LCDA participated in various games and competitions.
The event began with a march-past, followed by cultural displays and fashion parades, where several schools and groups won numerous prizes.
Children enjoyed the recreational facilities provided and the food and drinks offered by the Council.
The Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Alhaja Aminat Obe, who also serves as the Supervisor of Education, praised the children for their performances and wished them success in their endeavors, promising an even bigger celebration in 2025.
