Country music legend Toby Keith passed away peacefully yesterday evening, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with stomach cancer. He was 62 years old.
The news, confirmed by a statement on Keith’s website and social media, stated: ‘Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.’
Keith, known for chart-topping hits like ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy,’ ‘Beer For My Horses,’ and ‘Love Me If You Can,’ had a prolific career spanning over three decades.
He sold over 40 million albums worldwide, won numerous awards, including Grammys and American Music Awards, and was a true icon of the country music scene.
His battle with cancer became public in June 2022, shortly after he underwent surgery. He continued to perform and record music throughout his treatment, showcasing his unwavering spirit and dedication to his craft. His final album, ‘The Ride,’ was released in October 2023 and reflected on his life and career.
Toby Keith’s legacy will live on through his music. He was a true entertainer, a beloved artist, and a fighter who inspired millions. He will be deeply missed.
