Prominent figures, including Peter Obi, Adewunmi Adesina, and Femi Otedola, have voiced their concerns over the ongoing conflict between Dangote Group and federal regulators concerning the Dangote Refinery.
They urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) and other government agencies to swiftly resolve the dispute, emphasizing the refinery’s strategic importance to Nigeria’s economy.
The refinery is poised to generate $21 billion in annual revenue and create over 100,000 jobs. Adesina described the issue as shocking and harmful to Nigeria’s global reputation.
Otedola stressed the importance of supporting local champions like Dangote, who has achieved significant global business success.
Meanwhile, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, denied allegations of owning a blending plant outside Nigeria, as claimed by Dangote.
The dispute underscores the complexities of Nigeria’s business environment and the necessity for government support for local industries.
