Ondo State is set to host a special Diaspora Investment Summit in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program and the European Union Commission.
Scheduled virtually from December 2 to 9, 2023, the summit aims to gather resources and support for the local development of the state.
Commissioner Bayo Ologbese highlighted the government’s readiness and emphasized the involvement of top officials and experts.
The summit will showcase opportunities in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, education, technology, and infrastructure, encouraging the Diaspora community to contribute. Remarkably, Nigeria received $21.9 billion in Diaspora home remittances last year, surpassing Foreign Direct Investment by fourfold.
The summit will feature panels exploring investment opportunities and ways the Diaspora can contribute to both commercial and developmental outcomes.
