In a recent development in Ogun State, three police officers have been dismissed from the force following their involvement in a robbery incident in Ijebu-Ode.

The officers, identified as Inspector Taiwo Kolawole (AP/No 341113), Inspector John Ogbe (AP/No 309292), and Corporal Idowu Sunday (Force No 513707), were attached to Ijebu-Ife in Ijebu East Local Government Area.

The decision came after an internal investigation by the Ogun State Police Command, prompted by a report from Kashimao Emmanuel of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun.

Emmanuel detailed an encounter on January 12, where the dismissed officers coerced him into transferring funds from his bank account to an Opay account.

Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu announced the dismissals during a briefing, emphasizing the force’s commitment to combating crime.

Abdul-Azeez Ibrahim, suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, was also apprehended. Ibrahim was found with assorted guns and charms, allegedly used for criminal activities.

The CP highlighted the arrest of over 80 suspects involved in various criminal acts, underscoring the command’s dedication to maintaining law and order in the state.

The dismissed officers will soon face charges in court, signaling a firm stance against misconduct within the police force.
