During a recent audience with the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was urged to relay the message of the nation’s economic distress to her husband, President Bola Tinubu.
Senator Tinubu’s visit to the Emir’s palace coincided with her journey to inaugurate a building named in her honor at the Faculty of Law, Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano.
The Emir seized the opportunity to highlight the hardships faced by Nigerians due to economic challenges inherited by the current administration.
Expressing concern, Bayero urged President Tinubu to intensify efforts to alleviate economic burdens and address security threats.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing national interests over personal agendas.
Bayero underscored Senator Tinubu’s role as a reliable conduit for conveying citizens’ concerns to the President.
He advocated for increased governmental efforts to mitigate hardships and reconsider decisions such as the proposed relocation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters to Lagos.
Senator Tinubu expressed gratitude for the warm reception by the Kano State Government and highlighted the importance of community support, especially in distributing food items to the needy to foster national unity and promote peace.
She acknowledged her late husband’s pivotal role in shaping her humanitarian vision, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to steer Nigeria towards progress and prosperity.
