Ex-Defence Chief Adm Ibrahim Ogohi Dies At 75

Adm Ibrahim Ogohi, a former Chief of Defence Staff, has passed away at the age of 75 following a brief illness. The announcement was made by Brig Gen Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defence Information, who stated that Ogohi died early Sunday morning at his home in Abuja.

Ogohi served as the Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003 and was the first Nigerian Navy officer to attain the rank of four-star general.

According to his public profile, he received his early education at St. John’s College, Kaduna, from 1962 to 1966, and enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in 1967, graduating in 1970.

Born on November 14, 1948, Ogohi hailed from Okura in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
