A yet-to-be-identified male adult lost his life in a recent clash believed to be a cult rivalry in the Afobaje area of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, over the weekend. Kazeem Abiola sustained a gunshot wound and is currently hospitalized.
The clash, suspected to involve the Eiye and Alora confraternities, occurred midday on Tuesday when armed men stormed the area, shooting the victim in the chest and inflicting machete wounds.
An anonymous eyewitness described the panic as people fled for safety upon hearing gunshots.
Ogun State Police confirmed the incident, stating that one person died, while Abiola is stable after receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, ordered a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and reassured the public to continue daily activities without fear as the police intensify efforts to maintain peace.
