The Federal Government has announced its commitment to revive the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, with a goal of serving more than 10 million students nationwide.
Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on the school feeding programme, shared this information in a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday.
During her visit to the Transitional Learning Centre in Wassa, Abuja, which is located in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp, Adeniji emphasized that the school feeding program’s primary objective is to ensure that no child in public schools is left without access to nutritious meals.
She further highlighted the program’s successful collaboration with the Maple Leaf Early Years Foundation, an NGO, and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons.
Adeniji praised the Wassa school feeding initiative for its positive impact on school enrollment and attendance rates, acknowledging its crucial role in advancing education, addressing hunger, and breaking the cycle of poverty.
She revealed that the school feeding initiative, a part of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, targets students from primary one to three across the entire country.
In her closing remarks, Adeniji applauded the organization’s efforts, emphasizing the profound significance of education and nutrition in ensuring the comprehensive development of every child, regardless of their circumstances.
