Federal Government’s N100bn cut in supplementary budget for civil servant wage awards sparks condemnation from labor unions, citing a breach of agreement.

The revised 2023 Supplementary Budget reveals controversial changes, including a swap of N5bn presidential yacht votes for Navy barges and increased defense budget to N546.21bn.

The approved budget, initially set at N2.1tn, faced controversy for extravagant items, leading to National Assembly amendments.

The four-month wage award cost was reduced from N210bn to N110bn, triggering concerns amid rising economic challenges.

A civil servant, Opeyemi, expressed hardship with increased living costs, questioning the consistency of promised palliatives across states.
