The Nigerian federal government has officially announced its commitment to allocate resources from the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund to revitalize Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) across the nation.
Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Seniat Fisseha, Vice President for Global Programmes at the Buffett Foundation, also participated in this meeting.
Professor Pate emphasized the ministry’s dedication to collaborating with state governments, community leaders, and traditional authorities to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to address critical public health issues. These issues include malaria, immunization, maternal and child health, and reproductive health, all of which will receive significant attention.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Ms. Fisseha from the Buffett Foundation would work in partnership with the Nigerian government to improve the overall health and well-being of the populace, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and women.
Ms. Fisseha expressed her foundation’s enthusiasm for this collaboration and its commitment to working closely with federal and state governments, as well as communities, to ensure universal access to healthcare.
