Fuel prices have surged in several northern Nigerian states, including Niger, Benue, Kano, and Plateau.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has confirmed this increase, attributing it to the high diesel costs for transporting petrol from the South to the North.
The ex-depot price of petrol has risen to between N610/litre and N615/litre, leading independent marketers to raise prices at filling stations to between N630/litre and N680/litre.
Factors contributing to this rise include logistics challenges, forex rate fluctuations, high diesel prices, and bad road conditions.
The high cost of transportation has impacted petrol prices, resulting in price hikes in these states.
