The news of the passing of Mrs. Tinuola Aina, the sister of Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka. She peacefully departed on November 7, 2023, at the age of 90.
The family has released a statement, announcing a service of songs in Lagos on December 7 to honor her memory. A two-day ceremony to celebrate Mrs. Aina’s life is scheduled for December 7-8 in Lagos, with a private interment to follow. All are invited to attend and pay their respects.
Born on April 29, 1933, in Abeokuta, Nigeria, Mrs. Tinuola Aina was the eldest child of Samuel and Grace Soyinka. Ake Vicarage, her birthplace, was also the childhood home of her brother, Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka.
