Reports on the dire situation at Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapaade, Ogun State. A TikTok user with the handle @only1palesky, identified as a student of the polytechnic, has urgently called on the government for intervention against the recurring armed robbery incidents plaguing the institution.
According to PUNCH Online, armed robbers have been targeting students, robbing them of valuables and subjecting female students to sexual assault. Over the past two weeks, these criminals have carried out multiple attacks in Isara, Ipara, and Ode communities.
In a distressing TikTok video posted on Saturday, an unnamed student shared the tense atmosphere within the school and revealed the tragic death of his friend, Makinde Ayomide, who was fatally shot on December 2, 2023.
The student implored the government to address the escalating violence, criticizing the school’s apparent inaction.
He emphasized that these robbery incidents have persisted for years, with students consistently falling victim to criminal activities, including robbery, theft, kidnapping, and sexual assault.
The student expressed frustration, noting that the perpetrators specifically target students while sparing the local residents.
