Global Cooperation Essential for Addressing Climate Emergency at COP28

By Akinola Christiana (SIWES Student, The Polytechnic Iresi)

Government and business leaders convene in Dubai for COP 28, where the crucial role of African business leaders in addressing the climate emergency takes center stage.

As a member of the African Business Leaders Coalition, I am proud to represent the commitment of African CEOs to foster sustainable growth and development.

Our focus at COP 28 is advocating for policies that support sustainable development and climate action in collaboration with the African private sector.

I emphasize the necessity of robust public-private partnerships, rejecting the notion that desired outcomes result solely from governmental decisions or business efforts.

Airtel Africa, operating in 14 African markets, actively contributes to this cause by pledging to reduce carbon emissions across its operations and supply chain, addressing both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
