Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) students rallied outside the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in protest of their fellow students’ arrests.
They adamantly demanded the release of the arrested students. According to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), approximately 70 students were apprehended during a midnight raid on off-campus hostels in Ile-Ife, though the reasons for their arrests remain unclear.
The Students’ Union Government of OAU led the protest, highlighting that the university management had not been informed of any financial crime allegations against its students.
OAU’s management and the EFCC are both actively seeking more information about the situation and request patience from the public as investigations continue.
