The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the identification of three officers who stopped a motorist in Lagos and requested his tinted glass permit without displaying their ID cards or wearing uniforms.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Police Public Officer, announced on Twitter that the officers have been traced to Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos State. They will undergo investigation and face sanctions if found guilty, as per the force’s regulations.

An individual, @emmCee_RNB, recounted an encounter where three men, claiming to be police officers, stopped him in Victoria Island.

They were dressed in civilian clothes, and their vehicle lacked a number plate. Despite his refusal to comply until shown identification cards, they failed to provide any. The incident has been reported to the police for investigation.

Identified as a journalist, the individual observed a white bus without a license plate tailing him from the Nigerian Law School to 1004 Estate.

At the Oriental Hotel entrance, three men in civilian attire alighted, instructing him to leave his car and join them, while one drove his vehicle. Concerned for his safety and the lack of identification, he declined to comply.

The individual, alarmed by the absence of identification and uniforms, was wary of the individuals claiming to be undercover police officers from Zone 2 Police Station in Victoria Island.

He recorded the incident on his phone discreetly, highlighting his concerns for safety and the potential for similar experiences among others.
