Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, inaugurated the Lagos Red Line rail system on Thursday to enhance transportation in the city.
The Red Line, spanning 37 kilometers, aims to alleviate congestion and facilitate easier travel within Lagos.
Arriving punctually at 12:10 pm, Tinubu commenced the official opening ceremony at the Ikeja Train Station.
The Lagos Red Line constitutes the initial phase of a broader project linking Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo in Lagos.
Anticipated to serve 500,000 passengers daily, the rail system encompasses 37 stations.
The inauguration marks a significant advancement in the state’s transportation infrastructure.
With the Red Line operational, Lagos now boasts two rail lines managed by the Lagos State Government, the other being the Blue Line, connecting Marina to Mile 2 in its initial phase.
This milestone underscores Lagos’s commitment to enhancing its transportation network and fostering urban development.
