Chief Alade Lawson, the former National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, widely known as the Iyalode of Yorubaland, has passed away.
She left this world in the early hours of Saturday, in Abeokuta. Alaba Lawson was a distinguished educationist and the founder of the renowned Alaba Lawson Group of Schools.
The sad news of her demise was officially conveyed in a statement by AbdulRahman Maku, the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.
The statement announced the passing of NACCIMA’s former President and ABEOCCIMA Matron, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, MFR, JP (Iyalode of Yorubaland), which occurred on the morning of Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The family will later provide details about her burial arrangements. May her soul rest in peace.
Iyalode Alaba Lawson, born on January 18, 1951, was a prominent Nigerian business magnate, entrepreneur, academician, and an advocate for women’s empowerment. She held the title of Iyalode of Egbaland and served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ABEOCCIMA until her passing.
