The Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency’s Director-General, Olujimi Omotoso, has revealed plans for the Lekki-Epe corridor airport, projecting a capacity of five million passengers annually.
During a press briefing, Omotoso highlighted the airport’s design, features, and benefits, including the ability to handle wide-bodied aircraft, a 4-kilometer runway, a terminal building, and a cargo facility, with connectivity to other parts of Lagos State by road and rail.
In an interview, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, discussed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration achievements and future plans, encompassing infrastructure, education, healthcare, job creation, and security.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES agenda, focusing on Traffic Management, Health, Education, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, and Security, has expanded with THEMES Plus, incorporating Peace and Security, Productivity and Job Creation, and Urban Renewal and Infrastructural Development.
This initiative builds on previous success and aims to enhance the lives of Lagosians.
THEMES Plus aligns with sustainability, addressing climate change through renewable energy, water and waste management, and disaster risk management.
The agenda emphasizes social and economic inclusion, targeting women, youth, and vulnerable groups, envisioning a resilient and inclusive Lagos.
Strategies within THEMES Plus span finance, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, and entertainment, fostering a conducive environment for businesses, job creation, and economic growth.
Infrastructure development, including roads, railways, airports, and seaports, forms a pivotal part of the plan, aiming to position Lagos as a global city.
Quality of life improvements constitute a core aspect, encompassing education, health, housing, and sanitation.
The plan strives for enhanced access to quality education, increased healthcare facilities, affordable housing, improved sanitation, and reduced pollution.
