Minors Arrested for School Fire in Ogun State

In Isheri-Olofin, Ifo Local Government Area, Ogun State, two minors, aged six and nine, both residents of the Isheri Olofin community, were apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command for setting their school on fire on October 29, 2023.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the command, made the announcement.

According to Odutola, the young children gained access to an unlocked classroom at Community Primary School Isheri Olofin, where they collected books that were left behind by teachers and pupils.

Subsequently, they set these books on fire, causing damage to school property. The exact value of the damaged books remains unknown.

A community chief reported the incident to the police, prompting the Anti-Crime and Detectives Unit to visit the scene and bring the alleged children to the police station for questioning.

The parents of the minors will also be summoned for questioning regarding the circumstances surrounding their children’s actions.

Odutola concluded by stating that the police would continue their investigation and keep the public informed if there is evidence of any other individuals who may have influenced the children’s actions.
