In a testimony given during the Coroner inquiry at Ikorodu on Tuesday, Omowunmi Aloba, the spouse of the late singer IleriOluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, recounted the events leading up to his death.

She expressed her belief that Mohbad had passed away long before being officially declared dead, attributing it to a history of bullying, mental distress, and an arrest by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

According to Omowunmi, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in the afternoon, Mohbad passed away in his room. She explained that he had requested the air conditioner to be turned on, but when it didn’t work, they hurriedly moved him to their son’s room.

Omowunmi was in the kitchen at the time, and when she came out, she witnessed a nurse administering an injection to Mohbad, who expressed discomfort and asked the nurse to remove the needle.

It was at this point that they decided to rush him to the hospital. During the car ride to the hospital, Mohbad’s condition deteriorated, and he was declared dead upon arrival.

Omowunmi also shared details of a show they attended the day before Mohbad’s death, during which he complained of tiredness and had a disagreement with his younger brother and a friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Prime Boy.

The argument escalated briefly, resulting in a minor injury to Mohbad’s elbow when he struck the car window.

She mentioned that Mohbad had been avoiding medical attention since a previous incident with the NDLEA, where he was hit on the head with a gun. This event left him fearful and reluctant to seek medical care.

Furthermore, Omowunmi explained that after the NDLEA incident, Mohbad exhibited signs of paranoia, memory loss, and depression, which intensified following his death.

She also expressed her lack of knowledge about his burial or the mortuary where his body was kept. Omowunmi shared concerns about threats she had received and her need to wear a face mask when going out due to these threats.
