At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on New Year’s Day, the NDLEA intercepted a consignment of potent cannabis, cleverly concealed in boxing kits imported from the United States.

The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, revealed that a week of intelligence-driven efforts led to the arrest of Olorunfunmi Olakunle, a 38-year-old individual distributing the hazardous substance in Lagos.

In a series of interdiction operations across several states, the NDLEA arrested 12 suspects, including Bilkisu Suleman, identified as the prime ammunition supplier to bandits.

Another notable arrest was Francis Suru, who was transferred with 63 jumbo bags of Ghanaian Loud, a cannabis strain, to the NDLEA in Lagos.

The agency’s efforts extended to Niger State, where a bus traveling from Ondo to Zaria was intercepted, revealing 23 bags of cannabis sativa.

Additionally, arrests were made in various locations, including a female trafficker, Queen Onyema, and Mubarak Sani, both caught with significant quantities of psychoactive substances.

In Borno State, four suspects were arrested with 60kg of cannabis, while in Osun State, an illicit drug shipment sent from Lagos was intercepted on the Osogbo-Ode Omu Road.

The seized drugs included cannabis sativa, Loud, Colorado, and Molly, along with cash and paraphernalia.
