National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has received 100 petitions in the past 11 months.

Koyejo, the director, shared this information in Lagos during a United Nations activism program, emphasizing the growing number of petitions for both males and females, especially females.

The 2023 campaign theme is End GBV and harmful practices against women and girls in Nigeria.

Koyejo encouraged victims to speak up and fight for their rights, emphasizing the importance of reporting violations to the commission or the police.

Regardless of gender, he stressed the need for everyone to have their rights protected.

To further promote awareness, Koyejo urged citizens to report infractions to the NHRC using the toll-free shortcode 6472.

In a proactive move, the commission, along with staff and NGOs, conducted a road walk in Ikeja to raise awareness about violations of women’s and girls’ rights.
