In Imo State, Nigeria, amidst the ongoing protest led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to address alleged workers’ rights violations, the President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, was apprehended by the police.
While the protest was underway, miscreants targeted the demonstrators, damaging vehicles and causing injuries to NLC members.
The protest was initiated by the NLC in response to the state government’s consistent failure to honor previous agreements, including the non-payment of salaries for nearly 20 months and the unjust designation of certain workers as ‘ghost workers.
Currently, the whereabouts of the NLC President remain unknown, as heavily armed security personnel forcibly removed him from the protest scene.
