The Nigerian government has initiated the repatriation process for Nigerian refugees from Cameroon, Chad, and Niger Republic.
This action aims to bring back those who sought safety in neighboring countries during the Boko Haram crisis. Recently, Alhaji Ahmed Tijjani, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), met with Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to discuss plans for the return of refugees.
The government is working with the UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) to register and facilitate the voluntary evacuation of refugees.
Tijjani commended the Borno State government’s commitment to the well-being of the people and expressed continuous support, highlighting the establishment of a resettlement city in Amarwa village, Konduga local government area.
