Nigerian Navy Apprehends Impersonator And Accomplices Involved In Unlawful Oil Bunkering In River State.

In a recent operation, the Nigerian Navy has detained three individuals, including an imposter posing as a naval officer, for allegedly issuing forged documents to facilitate illegal oil bunkering activities in Rivers State.

The suspects were apprehended on November 8, 2023, by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base in Bonny Island while attempting to secure fake oil approval for the vessel ‘MV Mother Gabrini.’

Commander Desmond Igbo of NNS Pathfinder revealed that the imposter conducted unauthorized escort and security operations within Rivers State.

During the arrests, two camouflage uniforms and other military gear were recovered from the imposter’s residence.

L The suspects were captured in different locations following a one-week sustained intelligence-led operation.

Igbo emphasized the Navy’s commitment to combating crude oil theft and illegal bunkering, urging oil thieves and criminals to reform.

He warned that the Navy would relentlessly pursue and prosecute those engaging in unlawful activities within the state.

Additionally, he encouraged community residents to support the Navy by providing valuable information about criminal activities in their vicinity.
