Nigeria’s Falconets and Tanzania’s U20 Battle to a 1-1 Draw in Intense FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier

In a gripping clash for a coveted spot in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s U20 girls faced off against their Tanzanian counterparts, resulting in a thrilling 1-1 draw in the first leg of their African qualifying series second-round fixture in Dar es Salaam.

The deadlock was broken by Nigeria’s substitute, Chioma Olise, who scored three minutes before the hour mark at the Azam Sports Complex.

However, Tanzania’s Asnath Ubamba retaliated with a goal from a free kick 13 minutes later, leveling the score and leaving Nigeria’s goalkeeper Anderlin Mgebchi helpless.

As the match concluded on the artificial turf, both teams fiercely contested for dominance, but the scoreline remained unchanged. With the first leg concluded, the Falconets return to Nigeria with high expectations, anticipating a triumphant performance in the upcoming second leg scheduled for Sunday, 19th November.

The stage is set for a compelling showdown as the teams prepare for the decisive clash in their pursuit of World Cup qualification.
