It’s been 116 days since the incident in Cross River, and the NMA is deeply frustrated by the delay in releasing Professor Ekanem Ephraim, the neurology expert.
The NMA Chairman in Cross River, Dr. Felix Archibong, expressed concerns about the city’s safety due to increasing kidnapping cases.
Professor Ephraim was abducted on July 13 near Mountain of Fire on Atimbo road.
During the 40-day strike initiated by the Medical Association in response to the kidnapping, Governor Sen. Bassey Otu appealed, emphasizing the suffering of innocent citizens.
The strike was temporarily suspended to give the government time to rescue Professor Ephraim.
Despite ongoing efforts, frustration persists as the promised progress in reducing kidnapping cases remains unfulfilled.
The NMA urges security agencies to fulfill their promises, emphasizing the need for the release of their colleague and the safety of medical personnel in the state.
