Reports on Monday’s shutdown of the Bwari Council Secretariat by NULGE Bwari Area Council branch. Led by Chairman Emmanuel Ishaku, workers barricaded the entrance, demanding payment and holding placards with messages like ‘Pay us our 35% wage award.
The protestors accused the chairman of undermining FCT intentions and reminded council chairmen of the importance of public servants.
Prior, the FCT NULGE chapter had written to Minister Nyesom Wike about non-implementation of allowances, pension deductions, and rights.
The letter, signed by Ibrahim Abdullahi Kabi and Bridget Ayendi, set a 7-day ultimatum from January 3rd to 11th, 2024, for resolution.
