Numerous stars, including Miracle Sonny, Onyema, and Eno, shone brightly at the MTN CHAMPS event in Uyo. On the second day of this exciting competition, young athletes fought fiercely for medals.
Miracle Sonny, representing La Kings International School in Rivers State, stole the spotlight with a remarkable performance.
She clinched two gold medals, first in the Youth Girls’ 400m with a Personal Best (PB) time of 56.94s, outshining her rival, Miracle Uwem of Goretti Girls. Patience Joseph of Chosen International secured the bronze medal in this event.
Ezekiel Eno from Ritman College also displayed his brilliance, winning the gold in the 400m with a time of 50.25s. He outpaced Emmanuel Akpan and Solomon Josiah to claim the top spot.
In Sonny’s second final of the day, she dominated the 100m race, finishing first with a time of 12.74s. She was followed by FAANS’ Angel Eteng (12.95s) and Edidiong Joseph of Lutheran High School (12.96s).
In the U-17 Boys’ category, Alvin Onyeama of Maryland Prestigious College emerged as the champion with a new PB of 11.36s. Faithwin Essien and Ndiponke Obot secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Ritman College excelled in the Boys’ and Girls’ Cadet 100m races. Uwakmfon Ekpeyong posted a PB of 11.58s in the Boys’ race, with Eze Chukwuma and Ndiponke Ekanem finishing second and third.
Uwakmfon Udoh claimed victory in the Girls’ race with a new PB of 13.65s, followed by Miracle Aniefiok and Inimfon Inyang.
Rosemary Edet stood out in the Girls’ Junior race, setting a new lifetime outstanding best of 12.14s. Humble Isang and Benita Okwudiba secured the second and third positions.
In the Girls’ Cadet 400m, Precious Awak from Etinan Institute won in 59.79s, followed by Chizoba Onyemauwa and God’smind Eteng.
In the Boys’ race, Emmanuel Obi of Ritman College took the top spot, with Uwakmfon Archibong and Bliss Okon as the top three finishers.
Edidiong Udotong became the champion in the Boys’ U-20 400m with a PB of 51.12s, followed by Inimfon Akaso and Endurance Everest.
