According to Malam Bature Suleiman, the Secretary of the Kaduna State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), there has been a notable decline of over 50 percent in the number of travelers as the Yuletide season approaches.
Suleiman attributes this decline to the rising transportation fares, driven by increased fuel prices, leading people to opt for sending messages to their loved ones instead of traveling.
Commercial motorists are reportedly facing financial losses due to the challenging economic situation, compounded by bad roads, unfavorable policies, and alleged multiple taxes imposed on union members.
The situation is described as tough, leaving drivers with minimal profits despite their hard work.
