An 18-year-old student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) was reported missing on November 8, 2023, only to be discovered brutally murdered later on. His head and wrists were allegedly sold for N100,000 to body parts dealers.
Quadri Salami’s disappearance prompted his father to file a report with the Kemta Divisional Police Headquarters on November 14. Despite extensive efforts, the truth unfolded on December 6 when police investigators found a shallow grave containing Salami’s remains.
Akeem Usman’s arrest, in possession of the victim’s phone, led to the apprehension of another suspect, Ifadowo Niyi. Both confessed to slaughtering and dismembering Quadri for ritual purposes.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, stated that the suspects admitted to selling various body parts, burying some for rituals and using others for criminal activities.
Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, personally led the investigation, emphasizing a commitment to justice.
The suspects’ actions are disturbing, underscoring the importance of collective efforts to eradicate such heinous practices and protect our communities.
