The students, in their anthem, proudly declared any other OAU as a counterfeit, reflecting the playful boasting culture among Nigerian universities. This tradition echoes across campuses, from ABU-Ibadan to ABU-Ife and ABU-Nsukka.
Nestled in the vibrant city of Ile-Ife, rich with Yoruba heritage, stands the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), often affectionately referred to as the “King of Universities.
Its roots trace back to the optimistic 1960s, a period marked by transformative shifts in Nigeria’s journey to independence. OAU emerged as a beacon of intellectual progress, embodying the aspirations of a nation.
