Ola Aina’s celebratory moment came when he scored the opening goal against Aston Villa for Nottingham Forest.
The Super Eagles defender showcased his skills with a remarkable strike, securing a hard-fought 2-0 victory for his team. Despite doubts about his fitness, Taiwo Awoniyi also made it to the starting lineup for Nottingham Forest when they faced Aston Villa at City Ground in the Premier League.
Steve Cooper’s team had been struggling, failing to win any of their last five games, while their opponents had won four of their last five matches.
However, Nottingham Forest took the lead just five minutes into the game when Aina received a beautiful pass from Harry Toffolo and unleashed a stunning shot into the bottom left corner of Aston Villa’s goal, marking his first goal for the team.
Aston Villa pressed forward in an attempt to equalize, but Forest’s defense remained resolute. Aina’s strong performance on the left side made it difficult for Diaby, and while Awoniyi had a decent game, he lacked sharpness.
Forest capitalized on Villa’s defensive weaknesses, adding a second goal just two minutes into the second half, courtesy of Orel Mangala.
Despite Aston Villa dominating possession, they were unable to breach Nottingham Forest’s steadfast defense throughout the match. After the game, Ola Aina expressed his joy to Sky Sports, saying, Massive win.
We were disappointed last week, but today we are happy. We fought for each other and secured the victory. My goal was one to remember.
I am happy to get off the mark and help the team. We can all be proud as we stuck to the game plan, dug in, and fought for each other.
