On December 7, 2022, the Coalition of Concerned Political Parties (CCPP) was officially established by seven opposition parties, including PDP, NNPP, and others.
This coalition, aiming to fortify democracy, addresses the growing risk of Nigeria becoming a one-party state, as highlighted by PDP’s Atiku Abubakar during discussions with the Inter-party Advisory Council in November.
Expressing deep concern about Nigeria’s increasing instability, the CCPP calls on the judiciary to uphold democratic principles.
SDP National Chairman Shehu Gabam underscores the significance of an independent judiciary, emphasizing its crucial role as the last hope for the common man.
In the face of heightened instability, particularly in states like Zamfara, Nasarawa, Kano, and Plateau, the coalition emphasizes the judiciary’s responsibility to exercise caution in decisions impacting stability.
This pivotal moment demands the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the rights of all citizens.
