Pastor Oluwatoyin Ogedengbe challenges the misconception of women’s inferiority in a recent sermon at Living Fountain Church.
Emphasizing societal biases, she urges women to believe in their abilities, pursue goals, and defy limitations. Ogedengbe advocates women’s inclusion in governance, multiple income streams, and challenges gender stereotypes hindering leadership roles.
Despite the 35 percent affirmative action mandate, gender equality faces setbacks due to a lack of implementation structures.
Globally, the gender gap in political representation persists, with slow progress predicted. With 49.4 percent of Nigeria’s population being women, calls for increased representation beyond 35 percent gain momentum.
Recognizing women as valuable assets, society’s empowerment of women is crucial for overall improvement. Economic empowerment, coupled with support in education and political participation, enhances women’s contributions to societal progress.
