Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary of the PDP, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to address the political crisis between Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike in Rivers State.
Emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the people’s interests, Ologunagba highlighted ongoing efforts to reconcile conflicting parties, stating that the focus is on achieving peace and understanding.
He assured that the PDP, with its organized structure, is actively engaging various party organs to find a resolution.
Meanwhile, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) alleges a plot to validate the defection of 25 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from the PDP to the APC.
The group claims to have intercepted intelligence regarding a potential ruling aimed at facilitating the impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. CUPP vows to resist such actions and urges intervention from key figures to safeguard democracy.
Former Governor Nyesom Wike cautions against political maneuvers that undermine the democratic process, urging politicians not to pull the ladder after reaching positions of power.
Wike dismisses claims of ethnic considerations in the crisis and advocates for unity in Rivers State.
Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman (North West) of the APC, accuses the party’s national secretariat of complicity in the Rivers State supremacy battle.
Lukman suggests that the dissolution of the Rivers APC chapter and the creation of a caretaker committee favoring Wike’s ally may be part of a larger strategy to hand over party structures to Wike ahead of the next general elections.
He calls for responsible leadership to avoid sacrificing governance for political disputes.
