Police Arrest Suspected Kidnappers With N8.5 Million In Taraba.

In a recent development reported by the Taraba State Police Command, a suspected kidnapper, Aliyu Mohammed, was apprehended in Jalingo with a substantial sum of N8,555,000.

Acting on a tip-off from the public, law enforcement officials initiated the arrest, suspecting the funds to be linked to kidnapping or other illicit activities.

An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the origins of the money and delve into the suspect’s criminal involvement.

Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, announced the arrest during a press conference at Jalingo’s police headquarters.

The capture was a culmination of collaborative efforts between law enforcement and vigilant citizens.

ZAMFARA Expressing gratitude for public cooperation, Eribo emphasized the importance of ongoing community support in combating crime.

Mohammed’s arrest transpired at a police checkpoint where he was driving a Toyota Starlet with license plate YLA 321 ZY.

Subsequent searches yielded not only the significant cash amount but also weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and various identification documents.

Amid interrogation, Mohammed failed to provide a satisfactory account of the funds’ origin, leading to intensified scrutiny.

Further investigation uncovered an additional N4,000,000 in Mohammed’s bank account, intensifying suspicions surrounding his criminal involvement.

He eventually confessed to being part of a kidnapping syndicate, shedding light on ransom payments as the source of the seized funds.

This admission prompted a broader police operation, resulting in the apprehension of multiple gang members and the discovery of their hideouts.

Commending law enforcement’s bravery and public collaboration, authorities stressed continued vigilance against criminal activity.

Mohammed’s confession has catalyzed ongoing probes into the syndicate’s operations, underscoring the necessity for sustained efforts in combating crime.
